Duration for full-time students: 1 year 

Duration for part-time students: 2 years 

 

BASIC PROGRAMME STRUCTURE:

Students are required to select six modules from the level 4 psychology (Honours) modules.

A module offered at Honours level in another department may be substituted for one on of the Psychology (Honours) modules.

Admission requirements:

 A Bachelor’s degree approved by the Senate of the university 

 A minimum of 65% in the final Psychology 3 examination

MA Research Psychology

One year of course work and one year of internship in a research setting.  A mini-thesis has to be completed to fulfill the requirements of the degree.

This structured degree leads to registration with the Professional Board for Psychology as a research psychologist. 

Courses include:

  •  Philosophical and social issues of psychology

  •  Research methodology

  •  Programme Evaluation and Consultancy

  •  Professional Ethics for Research Psychology

  •  Psychological measurement

  •  Skills training

  •  Community research,

  •  Health psychology research

    •  Sexuality and social control.

      M. Psych (Clinical):

      • Applications for 2016 are closed

      ¨ One year of coursework and one year of internship in an accredited psychological setting, such as a psychiatrichospital, counselling centre or school.

  • ¨ A mini-thesis has to be completed to fulfill the requirements of the degree.

    ¨ This degree leads to registration with the Professional Board for Psychology as a psychologist in one of two areas depending on the internship setting accreditation - counselling or clinical psychology.
