UWC’s Gender Equity Unit welcomes you to join together in celebrating diversity, challenging discrimination and prejudice and spreading love – Saturday 17 May is International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, a chance to learn more and speak out.

UWC’s Gender Equity Unit welcomes you to join together in celebrating diversity, challenging discrimination and prejudice and spreading love Saturday 17 May is International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, a chance to learn more and speak out.

But one day just isn’t enough to cover all the issues. That’s why UWC’s Gender Equity Unit (GEU) is making it  International Month Against Homophobia and Transphobia from now until 16 May, the Spread Love, Respect Difference campaign will be giving students an opportunity to share their stories, attend film screenings and performances related to the LGBTIAQ community (that’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Asexual and Queer, for those not in the know). They’ll also be hosting a generosity drive and ending off with a Fun Day.

Want to know where the fun is, and how you can show your support for diversity at UWC? Just consult the attached programme, or contact Glenton Matthyse at gmatthyse@uwc.ac.za

And on Wednesday 14 May, don’t forget to look out for the next issue of Imbewu, the GEU’s student-run newsletter that gives UWC students the chance to share their experiences, learn more about the election, read some poetry, and teaches students to learn and grow in ways they just don’t teach in the classroom.
