Kristian is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Natural Medicine, coordinating and teaching the Clinical Science modules. In September 2017, Kristian was appointed Acting Director of the School of Natural Medicine. Kristian holds a Master’s Degree in Homeopathy (2007) from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), as well as a PhD in Medical Bioscience (2014) (UWC).   In addition, Kristian qualified with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education Studies, specifically focused on teaching and learning for the sector. Within this context, he lectures Pathology, General Medicine and Clinical Diagnosis to 3rd and 4th year students, as well as research methodology.
Kristian is involved with research and supervision of post-graduate (Master’s and Doctoral) students conducted medical science research. Currently, he has published 7 peer reviewed accredited scientific manuscripts, is involved in book chapters related to male’s health and oxidative stress, and further involved in research investigating various herbs and other natural medicines in medical science and clinical application.
Academically, his research focused on obesity and diabetes in the setting of metabolic syndrome and related phenomenon such as insulin resistance, chronic inflammation and oxidative stress and the effect of these on male health, hormones and fertility. He is also investigating indigenous traditional herbs as novel treatment strategies within this context.
