 Mrs Tania Steyl is a lecturer and class-coordinator of the Department of Physiotherapy. She obtained her BSc Physiotherapy degree from Stellenbosch University in 1991 and her MSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of the Western Cape in 2007.  She is currently registered for her PhD degree in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences at the University of the Western Cape.

She has worked in private practice since 1992 and joined the University of the Western Cape in August 2004 as a part-time lecturer and clinical supervisor.  Mrs Steyl is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Physiotherapy since 2006.  Her research focuses on the area of health promotion in the prevention of risk factors for non-communicable diseases in South Africa; specifically diabetes mellitus. She has presented her research findings at academic conferences in Europe and South Africa. She has published in accredited scientific journals in Africa.

She has successfully co-supervised a Masters student and is currently supervising 2 Masters students. She has acted as external examiner at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
