Gender-Based Violence as a public health issue

Gender-Based Violence as a public health issue

Gender-Based Violence as a public health issue (GBV 401) is a semester module for fourth year nursing students.

The aim of the module is to enable us to identify and participate in the management of people who have been affected by gender based violence, as part of a multidisciplinary health care team. As part of this module, we are expected to acquire the fundamental knowledge of the biophysical and forensic assessment, treatment and care that the persons affected by gender based violence.

As part of our community outreach project (NRS 412) we are required to use our knowledge that we have learned in our previous psychiatric nursing training to educate and raise awareness against violence against women and children. Our awareness campaign will run until the end of September.
