 For those interested in becoming a professional nurse, we encourage you to join our School and to become part of the solution in addressing the challenges in the healthcare arena in South Africa

The School of Nursing (SoN) welcomes you at as a student in our graduate or post graduate nursing programmes. The School offer excellence in teaching and learning scholarship in the country and globally. Our aim is to educate nurses who will provide evidence based nursing to improve the health of the population.

The School is proud of its competent team of academics, clinical supervisors and support staff. The School places an emphasis on creating a culture of ethical evidence based nursing education facilitated by a transformative learning and teaching environment for our students. New initiatives and innovations are at the core of creating learning opportunities that are exciting and current in higher education. 

Within a professional, legal and ethical framework students are guided to become competent nurse practitioners with a scientific sound basis for nursing practice.Our graduate and post graduate programs address the needs of our country with a focus on research, clinical practice and community engagement.  In teaching we integrate amongst others the case based method, service learning and a preceptorship model.

The School has a strong research culture with ongoing research programmes in learning and teaching, mental health and stress management, service learning, quality primary health care and HIV/AIDS care, nursing informatics and mHealth under the leadership of nurse educators that are viewed as specialist in these fields of interests.
