Global Environmental Law (GEL)

Global environmental degradation in the Anthropocene is a pressing issue that requires an innovative and radical legal response. It is in this context that global environmental law has emerged as the set of legal principles developed by national, international, and transnational environmental regulatory systems to protect the environment and manage natural resources. Global environmental law is an area of current research strength within the Faculty of Law and aims to facilitate scholarship that responds to the increasingly global ecological crisis from a perspective of ecological justice.
