Enterprise Architecture is the organising logic for business processes and IT infrastructure and is concerned with enterprise analysis, design, planning and implementation for the successful delivery and execution of strategy
The objectives of Enterprise Architecture are to drive effectiveness, efficiency, agility and durability.
The Enterprise Architecture function in UWC is particularly focused on adding value in the areas of IT Portfolio Management, Solution Design & Implementation, and IT Security & Risk Management.
Governance, Risk & Compliance:
The objective of ICS’ Governance model is to ensure Strategy Alignment, Accountability and Transparency of ICT services delivered to UWC’s community.
ICS’ Governance Model is based on Cobit5 which provides an enterprise-wide Governance Framework for delivering effective, strategic and efficient ICT services to UWC. It incorporates several industry best-practice models suited to specific areas of ICT, e.g. ITIL for Management of Service Delivery and Service Support, TOGAF for Enterprise Architecture and ISO 27001 for Information Security.
UWC's ICT Governance Structure is designed around the 5 key areas where ICT decisions are required, namely:
- ICT Principles & Strategy
- ICT Investment Priorities
- Business User Requirements
- ICT Architecture
- ICT Infrastructure
The IT Security & Risk Management function has a dedicated focus on the management of UWC’s Information Security and managing ICS’ Risk register (and thereby contributing toward management of the Institutional Risk register).
Project Management Office (PMO)
The Project Management Office consists of a dedicated team delivering professional services in the areas of Business Analysis, Project Management, Project Administration and Project Co-ordination.
The PMO team is primarily responsible for the execution and implementation of ICS’ annual portfolio of ICT projects.
We have reviewed and re-designed our engagement and delivery processes, and are standardising on the adoption of two sets of global best-practice frameworks – i.e. BABOK (for Business Analysis) and Prince2 (as our over-arching Project Management methodology).
ICS Marketing & Communication
The Marketing & Communication function within Strategy & Planning is tasked with working closely with UWC’s existing marketing and communication teams with the objective of improving internal and external communication, and highlighting key ICS events and achievements.
