Services for Students

Careers Service assists current students and recent graduates of UWC with job search preparation. We host a number of events throughout the year to facilitate networking opportunities with prospective employers and workshops to promote student job search preparedness. We encourage you to engage with us regularly.

Our Careers Service management system, UWC Career Xplora is your online Careers Service portal offering you 24/7 access to job search resources.

Current UWC students and alumni (from 2016) have access to Career Xplora which allows you to:

  • Set up your profile to receive career specific information and notifications
  • Build your CV and Letters of Motivation using the Resume Builder tool (and customise it to different industries)
  • Check out the Employer Directory, new employers are being added weekly, also watch the Announcements page to see notices for on-campus recruiter events
  • Explore our Job Board with innovative features that are intuitive and personalised for student and graduate needs
  • Select and follow your “favourite” employers
  • Receive Weekly Job Blasts via the system
  • Link your Google Calendar for reminders for on-campus Careers Service events (don’t miss the 2020 Career Xpo)
  • Sharpen your interview skills using the Mock Interview tool
  • Chat live with UWC Careers Service staff

So how do you go about getting a Career Xplora account of your own? Not to worry - all students registered since 2016, already have an account created for them.

If you are a new student in 2020 an account will be created for you in the second term of 2020.

To login, visit:

Visit Career Xplora often - new positions, resources and career events will be shared regularly through the portal!

If you need assistance using the system – visit the Office for Student Development or reach out to us via the CHAT to ADVISOR feature on your UWC CAREER XPLORA Homepage or give us a telephone call on 021 959 2436 during University office hours.

We facilitate Job Search Skills presentations for students during lunchtime.

Topics include: strategising your job search, CV & Letter of Motivation guidelines, using LinkedIn for your job search, interview preparation, reviewing and signing your contract, etc.

Watch your email for invitations.

If you wish to arrange a JSSP presentation for your class / student organisation, email us at

The “Career Update” magazine contains relevant articles about career development and the job search. The magazine is widely read by our students. Click HERE to view our past editions.

Watch this space for the launch the UWC Career Update Handbook 60th Anniversary Special Makeover Edition.

The Mock Interview Tool assists students to prepare for their job search. Interview preparation is made much easier allowing you to practise in the comfort of your room. You have two options. You can either take a pre-structured interview for your specific discipline or create your own Mock Interview by selecting questions. You then record your interview, play it back, and assess your performance. Check out the Mock Interview Tool HERE.

The Graduate Recruitment Project (GRP) provides a platform for students to engage with recruiters at on-campus information sessions such as: company presentations, showcases and promo's to assist students with their job search. All students (first and second years included) are encouraged to engage with recruiters to gain tips and know what is expected of you in your application and as a potential employee.
