DIVISION/SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES (D/SPGS) DESIGNING MONITORING & EVALUATION SYSTEMS FOR RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT PLANS

Author: D/SPGS

DESIGNING MONITORING & EVALUATION SYSTEMS FOR PROJECT PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION & RESEARCH

The D/SPGS, together with the staff involved with Service-learning in Pharmacy (SLIP) at the School of Pharmacy, provided 10 staff members and postgraduates with training in Program Evaluation Research and Logical Frameworks as well as Writing for Publication training. The purpose of the training was to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to Design 5-Year Research Plans with M&E Systems to track and assess their research and increase publication outputs.  The SLIP initiative received NRF funding two years ago with an engaging research proposal submitted by Prof Angeni Bheekie and Dr Mea van Huyssteen so that the team can evaluate the implementation of their SLIP program and become one of the leaders in the field of service-learning pharmacy through their publications and postgraduate research outputs. The research findings would serve as evidence for Pharmacy education that is contextually relevant.

Departments that wish to also develop their respective postgraduate aligned 5-year research plans can contact Prof Lorna Holtman (lholtman@uwc.ac.za) or Ms Cornel Hart (chart@uwc.ac.za) for more details regarding time-frames and cost.
