The Office of Academic Support (OAS) aims to be a leader in optimising students’ potential for academic success and holistic development, to facilitate their employability and engagement as global citizens. 

The OAS creates an innovative Learning and Development environment for quality student centred practices. Through multileveled support initiatives, we enhance support initiatives, we enhance student retention, throughput and success. 

The OAS offers the following programs, initiatives and services to registered UWC students:


Graduate Development Program

The Graduate Development Programme (GDP) aims to contribute to the Foundation Programmes at UWC. Several studies emphasize t​he importance of addressing social and emotional factors in facilitating adjustment to the university environment, (Case 2007; Honikman 1982; Klagsbrun 1992; Sennett et al. 2003; Woosley 2003). Providing the tools for students to be more prepared to face daily challenges of university, can aid to actualise your potential.​

Academic Consultations

An offering of the Office for Academic Support is individual academic consultations (i.e. coaching sessions). Students are able to reach out to a trained academic facilitator for assistance with any challenges related to their academics, such as time-management, exam preparation, memory and study methods etc​. 


Peer Mentoring Program

PMP is a mentor programme aimed at assisting first year students to adjust to the university lifestyle, and to support their transition from high school to university. ​

Making your Mark

Students come to us with their needs and we respond accordingly. We have now piloted an additional way to give students a MAP (Feedback Report) which assists them to see their strengths and pay attention to enhancing their success.
