 Writing Workshops

We offer a range of writing workshops for undergraduate students on campus at the request of lecturers or departments. These workshops are custom designed for students and preferably with the input and collaboration of the lecturers involved. The average workshop is quite practical, and is approximately 2 hours long.

These are some of the topics of recent workshops we have facilitated with different departments:

  • Writing a literature review: finding your voice as a writer

  • Analysing a task, conducting research and planning to write

  • Structuring the writing: organisation and revision strategies

  • The writing process: planning, research and writing

  • CV, cover letter and blog writing: an introductory guide

  • Answering questions: how to approach the 'action' words in assignments

  • Technical report writing for Chemistry/Chemical Engineering students

  • A student writer's toolkit - concepts and tools for academic writing (adaptable to the task and topic being worked on and the needs of the students in the class).

If you are a lecturer who would like to organise a writing workshop for your students, please contact Sherran Clarence ( or 021-959-2404 as far in advance of the workshop date as possible to discuss your ideas and needs for the workshop.
