Prof John Williams interviewed by Chilean television while lecturing at Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile​



Prof Williams has,  since 2007, been a member of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).  The objectives of this organization are to facilitate research, promote research-based publishing and create multiple fora aimed at information sharing among African researchers.

CODESRIA has equivalent bodies in Latin America, namely, CLACSO, and the International Development Economics Associates ( IDEAs ) in the  Far East. Members of CODESRIA have fraternal membership in CLACSO and IDEAS.

Prof Williams was recently invited by these three international research organizations to lecture to doctoral students and post doctoral candidates, at the Universidad Católica de Chile, Silva Henriquez, Santiago, Chile.  During His 3-hour lecture on  ‘Democratic Renewal Versus Neoliberalism: Towards Empowerment and Inclusion: from the global to the local: some insights from South Africa and beyond’, Prof Williams participated in a 22 minute interview which was followed by a 5- hour Working Group discussion. His lecture formed part of the 6th South-South Institute: Program of Tricontinental Scholarly Co-operation between Asia, Africa and Latin America.
