The work of the novelist Nuruddin Farah examined in a publication by Dr Fiona Moolla

In her recently published book, Reading Nuruddin Farah, Dr Moolla, from the Department of English,  examines the work of the Somali novelist, Nuruddin Farah, who is one of the most important African writers. In this publication, she analyses his writing within the framework of Somali society and culture, Islamic traditions and political contexts, all of which are central themes in his work. She also addresses Farah's engagement with women's lives. His female characters and identities are at the heart of, rather than peripheral to his stories, and this is a feature that has distinguished him from many other male African writers. Dr Moolla has published several other short stories, as well.

Attached is the information sheet on the book that was published in April 2014.
