This MOU will enable universities to enter into an agreement of cooperation to exchange and collaborate in the fields of interest mentioned above. These programmes will be beneficial to both institutions.
The two universities have agreed to identify opportunities for the exchange of faculty and research staff that will enable interested and qualifying students and university personnel to pursue either short-term or extended programmes of study at either institution.
The memorandum will also help make faculty and students aware of the academic programmes, research institutes and educational resources available at each institution. Chandigarh University has partnered with 149 universities around the world, including UWC.
The Vice-Chancellor of Chandigarh University said they chose to partner with UWC because of the Times Higher Education ranking, and also because both India and South Africa are BRICS members.
“There are a lot of similarities between our universities and we are very much interested in areas like the School of Government. We cannot wait for our students to come here and for UWC students to come to us for joint research, as I would like my faculties to adopt some of the models used for research at UWC,” he added.
