Parents play a vital role in supporting students through the university application journey. Your guidance helps learners stay confident and focused during this important transition.

University Applications: What You Need to Know

Key Dates

  • Applications open: 01 April 2026
  • Applications close: 30 September 2026
Encourage your child to submit their application well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical or document submission issues.

Application Rules

  • Each applicant may choose up to 2 programme options.
  • Programme choices may be changed before the closing date by completing the Programme Change Request Form.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • Applicants should use their own email address and cellphone number, as all application communication is sent directly to them.

Postgraduate:

Important Notice: Admission to a programme does not guarantee residence placement. Applicants who require accommodation should apply for residence as early as possible.

Understanding Your Child's Application Status

As your child's application progresses, the application portal may display one of the following statuses:

Met Requirements
Your child meets the minimum admission requirements for the selected programme. A final admission decision may still be pending.
Do Not Meet Requirements
The minimum admission requirements for the selected programme have not been met.
Manual Pool
The application is under further review by the relevant faculty before a final decision is made.
Waiting Final Decision
The application is still being processed, and a final admission decision has not yet been made.
Offer Accepted
Your child has accepted the offer of admission within the required timeframe.
Offer Declined
The offer of admission has been declined by the applicant.
Offer Revoked
The offer of admission has been withdrawn because the required admission conditions were not met.

  • Be alert to scams—UWC will never request payments into a personal bank account or through unofficial communication channels.

POPIA: Student information is protected by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). UWC may only share application or academic information with a parent if the applicant has provided explicit consent.

Student Support Services

Residence

UWC offers on-campus and off-campus accommodation for eligible students. Residence Services can assist with residence applications, placement information, and accommodation inquiries.

Shuttle Services

UWC provides shuttle services between campus and selected residences to support student travel. Shuttle services operate on designated routes and schedules.

Disability Support

The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSWD) provides support to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to learning opportunities and campus life.
