Faculty librarians engage in Sakai (iKamva) training

Dear Colleagues, A request was made by the client relations librarian (Lilian Mitchell-Kamalie) to offer iKamva training for Faculty librarians. On Friday, 12 April 2013 the CIECT team offered training to eleven (11) librarians. During the training session participants were introduced to eTools and specifically how it benefits students. The librarians engaged with the following eTools: - Communication;- Content; and- eAssessment. They viewed the structured content as well as the multi-media components. The librarians  engaged in the discussion forum and shared their views regarding the use of the eTools and its benefits. Possible problems students may encounter were discussed as well as the solutions.  A follow-up training session will allow librarians to create their own online environments which can be used as training resources.  The CIECT team encourages Departments to arrange for group training sessions related to the effective use of eTools within the Sakai (iKamva) platform.
