Welcome to Instructional Designers

The area of Instructional Design is encapsulated within the broader Learning-and-Teaching agenda of the institution. The Instructional Design team focuses on the infusion of emerging technologies to supplement blended and distance learning environments. Training and support of academics and students across Faculties regarding the application of the eTools is critical.

Daily operations are aligned to research; which is evidence-based and measurable. The Instructional Design team have engaged in research projects since 2007, which includes topics related to the institutionalising of eLearning at UWC, change management strategies, training interventions, effective use of eTools, ePedagogy, and the design and development of blended learning programmes. View a list of the research publications and conferences (peer-reviewed papers).

The Instructional Design team regularly shares good practices via blogs about the use of various eTools and its pedagogical value for Learning-and-Teaching. View these stories and innovative practices at

This key area is underpinned by the alignment of activities (current and future) with the Institutional Operating Plan (IOP) of the University.
