Clearance Info

This communique is meant to share relevant information about financial clearance and registration for the 2016 academic year.

Academically-deserving students will not be denied access on financial grounds, and processes for financial support for those requiring it are in place through the University’s Financial Aid Office, with Student Credit Management playing a financial advisory role.

Please note the following:

All NSFAS and full-cost bursary holders are exempt from paying upfront payment and registration fees.

2.Non-NSFAS/Bursary Holders

This category of students will be assisted on a case-by-case basis, which means that they are in a process of being identified and will be invited to present themselves to be assisted for clearance. There is a verification process, including a means test to ascertain the number of students falling into this category.

The Financial Aid Office has a list of all students who applied for funding for the period 2013-2015. All qualifying students for this period will be allowed to register and will be invited to sign the funding contracts during the course of the 2016 academic year

  • Students who did not apply for financial assistance due to shortage of funding and therefore never received financial assistance in 2013-2015 will be invited to be means-tested to determine their eligibility.
  • Students who had earlier applied for funding are not expected to visit the Financial Aid Office as their funding applications have been captured on the system.
  • Students who have received 65% and above will be considered for merit awards, subject to the availability of funds. The Financial Aid Office may also be approached for external donor funding.
