Rechelle Jacobs is a hybrid academic, teaching distribution theory on an undergrad level and forms part of data science team. She is a PhD student with a research interests in Finance (Loss Given Default modelling), using survival analysis techniques to model time to events. Prior to the 5 years spent in the academia, she spent 15 years in the financial services sector where she worked as a Business Manager and Quantitative Analysts for three of the big five banks in South Africa. Rechelle serves on the teaching and learning committee of the Science faculty at UWC and has since the start of her research journey attended two international conferences. Upon completion of her PhD she would like to establish a statistics consultancy at UWC's Department of Statistics and Population Studies.
