The University of the Western Cape (UWC) Cricket Club will aim for honours when both the male and female teams compete in the T20 finals this weekend.

Tonight, Friday, 8 April 2016, the men's team will take on St Augustine CC at Newlands Cricket Stadium, while their counterparts will play Bellville Ladies at the same venue on Sunday, 10 April.

Advocate Nicolas Kock of the Cricket Club commented that the occasion is a big deal for the club and the University in general. “Every final is special for us as it is a celebration of all the amazing sacrifices our UWC students and UWC staff make working shoulder to shoulder in creating something special on our campus. We are UWC and together we can achieve amazing things for our community.”

The male cricket team has made three finals in the 2015/16 season, including the Varsity Cricket final which they narrowly lost to Tuks early in the year in Potchefstroom. The men's final is at 6pm on Friday and the women's game starts at 2pm on Sunday.
