UCT beat UWC to retain Chester Williams Memorial Trophy
UWC's neighbours, UCT, will hold onto the Chester Williams Memorial Trophy for another year after winning their FNB Varsity Cup Round 4 fixture 51-26 on Monday evening.

The hosts got the scoring underway soon after kickoff at a windy 'Green Mile' with Duran Koevort both dotting down and converting to hand the Ikeys a 7-0 lead. The UCT fullback converted a further three first half tries, scored by flanker Sipho Dyonase, prop and captain Luthando Woji and lock Connor Evans to hand them a comfortable 28-0 half-time lead.

The onus was now on UWC to mount a comeback. They certainly tried their best as all of Shaine Orderson, Peter Williams, Conwill Conradie and Aydon Topley dotted down in the second half - three of which were converted by captain Lyle Hendricks.

However, the boys in blue and gold couldn't contain the hosts attack who themselves scored three tries in the second half through Mike Schubert, Imad Khan and Ntokozo Makhaza (the latter two point-of-origin efforts) and two conversions from Koevort to secure the 51-26 victory and bragging rights.

Next up for coach Paul Treu's men is a tough fixture against defending champions FNB UP-Tuks and they will hope that home ground advantage proves key.
