Please join me in welcoming Mr Abraham Oliver (Abe) who has been appointed as the Director: Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of the Western Cape.
Abe’s experience spans over more than 25 years, both in academia and SMME business modelling support. He coordinated the Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement & Service Learning at CPUT for 6 years, was a co-builder of False Bay College “Centre for Entrepreneurship and Rapid Incubator” (CFERI) for 6 years, and pioneered and designed both learning programmes and the Mentoring & Business Advisory Support programme for CFERI. He was also part of the team that presented a framework for the Service-Learning Model at HAN University in Holland.

Abe completed his Master’s in Development Studies (2016) at UWC, B Econ degree (UWC) and B. Econ (Hons) degree (UWC) with a focus on Business Management; and Higher Diploma in Education (HDE) at the University of the Western Cape. He also completed a Higher Diploma in Higher Education and Training (HDHET) from CPUT. Abe is an accredited Assessor & Moderator and has Wholesale and Retail Seta qualifications in Informal Small Business Practice. He is an incubator and Growth Wheel specialist and an experienced and professional SMME (small, micro & medium enterprises) practitioner and assessor, designing and developing outcomes-based assessments plus learning programmes (ETDP_SETA).
We welcome Mr Oliver to the UWC Finance and Services team and wish him well in his new role as the Director: Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
