The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce a call for new applications for Honours student funding for the 2021 academic year. The applications are open to full-time and part-time South African and permanent residents who are financially needy (i.e., those whose combined household family income is less or equal to R350 000 per annum).
Funding will be awarded for the 2021 academic only, for students in the following categories with respective criteria:

FIRST ENROLMENT HONOURS STUDENTS
CRITERIA
- Student’s first year of enrolment in the BEd Honours programme must be the 2021 academic year
- Student cannot be a recipient of other sources of funding
- Student cannot be employed in the UWC Work-Study programme, e.g. as a Student Assistant, Tutor or Teaching Assistant
- Student with a combined household income of less or equal to R350 000 per annum
- Successful applicants will be funded the full tuition costs.
SENIOR HONOURS STUDENTS
CRITERIA
- Student’s first year of enrolment in the Honours programme must be prior to the 2021 academic year
- Student cannot be a recipient of other sources of funding
- Student cannot be employed in the UWC Work-Study programme, e.g. as a Student Assistant, Tutor or Teaching Assistant
- Student with a combined household income of less or equal to R350 000 per annum
- Outstanding tuition fees

- For proof of household income: Payslips (Monthly, weekly, fortnight), Wage slips, Employment letter (Indicating monthly/Annual Income), Employment Contract (Indicating monthly/annual Income), SASSA Letter (Indicating amount), Tax Income Documents, Affidavit (Indicating Amount)
Successful applicants will be required to also submit the following documents:
- Proof of registration
- Confirmation of banking details (not older than three months)
