Claude Leon Foundation
The Trustees of the Claude Leon Foundation have established Postdoctoral Fellowships in Science, Engineering and Medical Sciences at South African universities.
The main goal of the programme is to help build research capacity in South African universities and research institutions. The Foundation funds both South African and foreign postdoctoral scientists in Science, Engineering and Medical Sciences to increase the volume and quality of research output, develop and transfer technical skills, and generally enhance the research culture in South Africa.
Applications for fellowships are considered on a competitive basis and are open to all South Africa’s tertiary institutions. The awards are for two years and are currently valued at R235,000 per year; fellows can also apply for relocation costs from abroad, and support for international conference attendance. From January 2017, the value of the Fellowship will be R275,000 per year
