The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has established a COVID-19 Response Task Team (CRTT). The task team is chaired by Mr Manie Regal, Executive Director: Finance and Services.
The terms of reference of the CRRT include communicating clear COVID-19 protocols with all stakeholders, and establishing mechanisms for monitoring compliance of health and safety regulations and protocols.
The University is required to report regularly to the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and stakeholders on the University's Integrated COVID-19 Implementation Plan, as well as cases of infection among staff and students. In order to do this, the University has developed a template to collect information on positive cases of infection among students and staff (see attached). Staff and students are required to complete the attached form, sign it, and send it via email to a dedicated COVID-19 email address (covid19uwc@uwc.ac.za). Statistics will be collected by the Registrar, collated and submitted every fortnight to DHET. Information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality.
