EESA 2018 students
The Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa (EESA) is a prestige programme offered by Prof. Michael Morris from the Warrington College of Business. Students are selected from three American universities and the University of the Western Cape. This programme has been running for the past nine years at UWC and every year a large number of students from UWC attend this programme and indicate that it is a life-changing programme. This year will be no exception.
We have selected 25 students of whom only nine is currently accommodated in the university residences and 17 travel to campus every day. We were hoping to accommodate the 17 in the UWC residences but because of previous events the policy changed and these students cannot be accommodated in the residences and will be required to either travel every day to and from campus which unfortunately will not be very practical as they start at 08h30 and sometimes complete the work around 23h00.
It will really be sad if the 17 will not be able to attend the programme because we cannot accommodate in some way. The School of Business and Finance is paying for security and the accommodation of those students who currently stay in the residences. We appeal to people to help us accommodate the 17 students, either through funding so that we could possibly put them in a guest house in close proximity to UWC or free accommodation for the duration of the programme.
The students will attend an orientation session on Thursday, June 7 at 15h00 and the class will start on Sunday June 10 at 13h00 and continue until July 20.
Your assistance will be appreciated.
