ELECTION OF EIGHT (8) MEMBERS OF THE PROFESSIONAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT STAFF (PASS) TO SERVE ON THE SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WESTERN CAPE

 
Section 9.2.12 of the University of the Western Cape Statute, 2018 makes provision for the election of eight (8) PASS members of the University to serve on Senate for a period of two (2) years. The term of office of the current PASS members serving on Senate is due to end on 31 December 2023.

The Registrar hereby invites PASS members to submit nominations for eight (8) PASS members to serve on Senate for a period of two (2) years from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025. A copy of the official nomination form is included with this communication.

Eligibility for nomination and election 

PASS members of the University appointed permanently or on contract for a period of not less than one year. 

The nomination of a PASS member employed on a fixed term contract will only be valid if the contract of employment of the nominee does not expire prior to 31 December 2025.

Nominations

PASS members are invited to nominate candidates to serve on the Senate by completing the nomination form included with this communication or available on request from the Secretariat at secretariat@uwc.ac.za.

Each nomination form must be signed by two (2) PASS members, and must also be countersigned by the nominee to signify acceptance of such nomination. NOTE: A nomination form which does not contain the signatures of the two (2) nominators as well as the signature of the nominee will be invalid.

Duly completed nomination forms must be lodged with the Registrar at email: secretariat@uwc.ac.za by Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at 12:00. 

Elections

Should more than eight (8) nominations be received, an election will be held.
