ELECTION OF ONE (1) PROFESSIONAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT STAFF (PASS) MEMBER TO SERVE ON COUNCIL, FOR THE PERIOD 1 DECEMBER 2023 TO 30 NOVEMBER 2026
INVITATION TO VOTE FOR ONE (1) MEMBER OF THE PROFESSIONAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT STAFF (PASS) TO SERVE ON THE COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WESTERN CAPE
Section 8.2.5 of the University of the Western Cape Statute, 2018 (“the Statute”) makes provision for the election of one (1) professional, administrative and support staff (PASS) member of the University to serve on Council for a period of three (3) years. The term of office of the current PASS member will end on 30 November 2023.
The nomination process for the election of a PASS member of the University to serve on Council, as prescribed by the Statute, started with a call for nominations on 31 July 2023. Six (6) duly completed nomination forms were received on Monday, 14 August 2023. The opening of nominations was conducted under the supervision of a representative of the UWC Legal Services Department, Mr R Verwant.
The following nominations for PASS members were received and verified:
1) Mr Luan Africa (1 nomination)
2) Ms Dominique Bowers (1 nomination)
3) Mr Clint Prins (1 nomination)
4) Mr Marquard Simpson (1 nomination)
5) Mr Ayanda Takane (1 nomination)
6) Ms Lucille Teegler (1 nomination)
Since more than one nomination was received, and in line with s8.31 of the Statute, an election is essential. The election will be conducted electronically and may be accessed by clicking on https://elections.uwc.ac.za/ or typing the link in your browser. The election site will be open for voting on Thursday, 17 August 2023 at 09h00 and close on Tuesday, 22 August 2023 at 12h00.
2. Logon to the site with your Active Directory username and password.
3. Click on the “Elections PASS 2023-2026” tab in the top banner.
4. Click on the “Polls” tab in the left column.
5. Click on the Election title “Election of a PASS Member to Serve on Council”.
6. Select your preferred candidate by clicking on the name of the candidate.
7. Your selection will be your vote and recorded accordingly.
Kindly note:
a) One submission per PASS member is permitted.
b) One PASS member will be elected.
c) Voters may only select one of the candidates.
