UWC will soon be embarking upon our mandatory closure of campus for the festive period. This will be from 22 December 2022 - 3 January 2023 and we trust that the entire campus community are looking forward to a welcomed rest bite, after a rather challenging year.

There are a few simple reminders we would like to refresh you on.

Please be informed that any staff member, contractor or student requiring access during the closure period stipulated above, should receive a permission letter from either their Dean/Director/ HOD or respective line manager. The aforementioned letter should be forwarded to the following email address; controlroom@uwc.ac.za.

Campus Protection Services Control Room can be reached on 021 959 2100 or extension: 2100.

Contractors or Vendors will require a letter from the Director of Infrastructure and Engineering/Business Development Office or appropriate line manager, indicating permission to do work on campus and clearly indicating the location and times for work to be done. Strict security measures will be followed when it comes to gaining access during this period.

 Please ensure that the above process is followed to avoid disappointment during this time. All permission letters should be sent before 19 December 2022.

In this letter the following should be present:

1. Formal request and permission of HOD/Dean
2. Copy of staff member's staff card
3. A hand signature of the HOD/Dean (electronic signature accepted)

What is required to gain access:

• Staff/Student Access Card with letter  
• Vac Stay Residence Students will have to provide their access card upon entry
• Contractors and Vendors: letter from the Infrastructure and Engineering Department and/ or Business Development Office with hand signature of Director
