As the crescent moon ushers in the holy month of Ramadan, we extend warm wishes to all staff, students, and families observing this sacred time. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and renewal. It is observed by millions of Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, acts of charity, and a conscious effort to cultivate compassion and gratitude.

Ramadan holds profound significance in Islam as it commemorates the first revelation of the Holy Qur’an. Beyond abstaining from food and drink, it is a time to refrain from harmful speech and actions, to strengthen bonds of community, and to embody generosity and empathy. The daily fast is broken at sunset with iftar, often shared with family and friends, reinforcing the values of togetherness and care.

For our University, Ramadan is also a reminder of the diversity and richness of our community. It invites us to respect and learn from one another’s traditions, and to create spaces where all can practice their faith with dignity. We encourage colleagues and students to be mindful of those who are fasting, and to embrace the spirit of patience, kindness, and solidarity that defines this month.

As we journey through Ramadan, may it be a time of renewal, compassion, and collective reflection. We wish all who observe it a blessed month filled with peace, strength, and spiritual growth.
