ICS Data Centre Planned Maintenance
Dear Campus Community,
As part of the ICS Department’s continuous improvement efforts there will be a planned shutdown of the ICS Data Centre over the weekend of 28 April 2017 – 1 May 2017.
Why is the maintenance needed?
The ICS department will be re-positioning the server racks to finalise the Data Centre Cooling Project and preparing network infrastructure to receive the new 10Gig fibre network that is currently being deployed on campus.
These improvement projects will:
Ensure that the server environment functions optimally within the correct environmental conditions;
Will deliver improved connectivity and network bandwidth capacity between buildings on campus;
Enable the achievement of several of the University's IOP goals with regards to positioning UWC in the Digital Era.
Who will be affected?
All applications and network services (LAN & W-Fi) will not be available from 5pm on Friday, 28 April to 9pm on Monday, 1 May.
All applications and network services will be available on Tuesday, 02 May 2017 – 08h20.
What is required of staff?
Kindly ensure that all applications and systems are closed properly and that computers are switched off before 5pm on Friday, 28-April.
Please ensure that the required operational arrangements are put in place (where required) during this period.
