Today’s is just a short update to inform you that this morning’s exam session proceeded without incident. We are very glad that so many of our final year students are opting to write exams now.
Last night there were several incidents of university and security vehicles being damaged as a result of stone throwing. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
We have received numerous messages from staff who are anxious to get back to campus and understand that the current situation is very frustrating. For now we maintain that staff should preferably not come to campus and if really necessary, please make the required arrangements with Deans and line managers.
As you know, noon tomorrow is the deadline for residence students to vacate their rooms. The situation in our residences has become untenable and the residences are in urgent need of maintenance, repairs, cleaning as well as attention to health and safety compliance issues. We are working hard to assist students to vacate and return home as well as to provide alternative accommodation for students who are currently writing exams and completing their courses.
We continue to monitor the situation and will keep you informed.
