Dear Law Faculty Staff members and Students
I would like to wish all academic staff members, professional staff members and students well for the 2022 academic year.
The DVC: Academic, Prof Lawack on 25 January 2022 communicated the UWC 2022 Learning and Teaching Plan. She indicated that each Faculty will communicate the details of the specific approach of that Faculty.
In the Law Faculty, a combination of approaches will be followed:
- Some law modules will remain fully online (especially at 2nd and 3rd year level, as well as at postgraduate level)
- Some law modules will follow a hybrid option 1 approach: lectures and tutorials will be presented online on iKamva, with the option of in-person consultation on campus (some 2nd and 3rd year modules)
- Some law modules will follow a hybrid option 2 approach: lectures will be online on iKamva, with contact tutorials and consultation on campus (1st year and high impact modules)
- Some law modules will follow a hybrid option 3 approach: contact lectures will take place on campus, with groups alternating; lectures live-streamed and/or recorded; tutorials and consultations take place on campus (primarily final year modules).
- In respect of Legal Process 401, because of the need for face-to-face interaction with staff and clients (indigent members of the community), students will only be able to register for the module, if they are fully vaccinated.
Also please consult the class time-table.
Access to campus, in terms of the interim vaccination policy, is restricted to fully vaccinated persons.
Staff members and students are encouraged to consult the interim vaccination policy as approved by Council.
The above-arrangements are subject to change, where required by the circumstances.
Warm regards
Jacques de Ville
Dean: Law Faculty
