Dear Campus Community,

On the blessed occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I extend heartfelt greetings to all members of the University of the Western Cape community who celebrate this day. Eid marks the first day of Shaww?l and the completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan for Muslims — a month in which the Qur’an was revealed, and in which believers renew their devotion through fasting, prayer, and reflection.

Eid is also a time of generosity and compassion. The giving of compulsory charity known as Fitrah, offered before the Eid prayer, reminds us that the celebrations are incomplete without care for the vulnerable and solidarity with those in need.

As a university rooted in justice, dignity, and inclusion, we honour the values that Eid embodies: gratitude, community, and the pursuit of the common good.

May this day bring peace to your homes, joy to your families, and renewed hope for the future we are building together.

Eid Mubarak!
