Dear Campus Community, 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Lorna Holtman, a formidable leader and the former Director of Postgraduate Studies at the University of the Western Cape.

During her distinguished tenure, Professor Holtman was a passionate advocate for researcher development, working tirelessly to streamline postgraduate support and elevate UWC’s research profile through her strategic oversight of doctoral programmes.

Her legacy is woven into the careers of the countless scholars she mentored and the institutional frameworks she built to champion academic excellence. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and the many colleagues across the global higher education community who were touched by her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering commitment to the UWC mission.
