SBF Entrepreneurship Conference explores best methods of teaching entrepreneurship for Southern Africa
The School of Business and Finance (SBF) will host its 5th UWC Entrepreneurship Conference at the Lagoon Beach Hotel in Milnerton, Cape Town on 28 – 29 September 2017.
We invite all academic scholars, researchers, practitioners and policy-makers at all levels, to join in exploring Evidence-Based Best Practice in Entrepreneurship Education in the Southern African Region.
The scholarly debates of the last decade or so have produced some consensus about the value of entrepreneurship education - as management guru Peter Drucker noted, entrepreneurship is “a discipline and, like any discipline, it can be learned(and of course, taught).”
However, one aspect has remained unclear about entrepreneurship education: determining which curriculum and pedagogy best fits an economy, or sub-region? Without resolving this fundamental aspect of entrepreneurship education as a discipline, we might find it difficult to determine any measure of progress to advance the discipline.
Therefore, this conference is an opportunity to hold debates, talks and discussions around the School’s vision of nurturing the cultural diversity of Southern Africa, and responding in critical and creative ways to the needs of a society in transition.
The aim is to elicit evidence-based debate and conversation which will suggest best practices for the future of entrepreneurship education for optimal economic benefits and human development in the SADC region.
