Dear Campus Community,
The Student Representative Council (SRC) and Central House Committee (CHC) election process is underway. The campus is filled with excitement and anticipation as UWC students get ready to go to the polls to elect new leaders for the Student Representative Council 2023/24 from 28-30 August 2023. The CHC is residence-based and will therefore be voted for by residence students only.
This is an annual mandatory process and the campaigns by student organisations and individual candidates are in full swing. We hope to see a marked improvement in the percentage of students voting and this is possible when the majority of students participate in this important democratic process of electing leaders who represent their values and aspirations. After the election process has been concluded, the vote counting will start and the new SRC and CHC will be announced once all the processes and procedures have been followed.
The induction of the new leadership will follow soon afterwards to make sure that they are familiar with their new roles and observe all constitutional responsibilities and obligations. The election process involves different activities and is a crucial step in establishing a democratic culture on campus and beyond.
May all students stand up and be counted; take this opportunity and exercise their democratic right to vote for the SRC and CHC members of their choice!
