Thought Leadership Series on the Digital Economy - 19 August 2016
Topic: Beyond the hype of Big Data: How South African businesses apply data anaylytics for business purposes.
"Digital transformation demands a whole new mindset - one focused on
radical process simplification and alignment of the right technology with your
business strategy. How extensively an enterprise can transform is limited only by
the imagination of its people and their willingness to accept change."
(Digitalist Magazine, 02 March 2016)
In the discourse and application of digital transformation strategies in companies, the concept of data analytics (Big Data) is one of the core building blocks. As businesses attempt to develop BigData abilities, they encounter opportunities as well as obstacles. What seems to be clear is the great variation in the approaches bycompanies in developing appropriate organisational capabilities andintegrating these into their respective strategies and operations.
Please join us for a round-table discussion of local South
African companies and academics on:
(i)    the current application and utilisation of data analytics within their respective business contexts;
(ii)   the opportunities and challenges they experience in this respect;
(iii)  their views on the future development and application of data analytics in business context (is this just another hype)?; and,
(iv)  the approaches, needs, requirements and opportunities in terms of developing the required skills for these endeavours.
