I am pleased to announce that the Academy of Science South Africa (ASSAf) has elected two more University of the Western Cape (UWC) academics to its membership.
The ASSAf elects new members each year and we are proud that Professor Sarojini Nadar and Professor Shazly Savahl are now part of this prestigious science academy.
Prof Nadar (pictured) is the Desmond Tutu Research Chair in Religion and Social Justice at UWC. Prof Savahl is a registered research psychologist and associate professor based at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Children, Families and Society at UWC.
Prof Himla Soodyall, Executive Officer of ASSAf, says: “Membership of the Academy is a great honour and the inclusion of these new Members bears testimony to their scholarship and contributions to scientific endeavours in our country. We look forward to their contribution to the growth and development of the Academy.”
They are among 29 new members elected in 2022, which brings the total ASSAf membership to 659.
