UWC Mourns the passing on of one of our students, Mr Themba Mngomezulu
Dear Campus Community

The University of the Western Cape is saddened to learn of the passing on of one of our students, Mr Themba Mngomezulu. The body of Mr Mngomezulu, a Dentistry student, was found in his room at the Disa Residence at the Tygerberg Hospital campus on Monday.

Mr Mngomezulu’s family has since been informed of his passing. The circumstances are being investigated so that the cause of death can be determined. The immediate observations reportedly present no cause for suspicion of foul play.

We ask that the privacy of the family be respected during this time.

It is always difficult to lose one of our own. Our hearts go out to Mr Mngomezulu’s family and we offer them our sincere condolences along with our full support as we mourn this tragic passing.

Any further details regarding funeral arrangements will be communicated accordingly after consultation with the family. The Centre for Student Support Services (CSSS) is available to provide counselling support, via email at, or call 0800 222 333 or SMS 31393.
