In 2012, The Directorate of Teaching and Learning hosted the first Teaching and Learning Colloquium to showcase the work that T&L grant holders had been doing in their departments. This year, the Directorate will be hosting the second colloquium, which it hopes to make an annual scholarly event.
The Colloquium, to be held on campus on the 19th of July 2013, will provide UWC staff with an excellent opportunity to hear presentations from academic lecturers who have received teaching and learning grants to research their teaching, as well as to implement and research innovative, novel or renewed approaches to teaching and learning in their disciplines. These grants are awarded to teachers from a range of disciplines, so the Colloquium is a rich and diverse mix of disciplinary subjects, and approaches to and discussions about teaching and learning at UWC.
It is anticipated that Prof Denise Wood will provide a keynote address at the Colloquium, and that she will run a workshop prior to the Colloquium on the 18th of July on the scholarship of teaching and learning.
