UWC Moot Court Society to Host the 11th Annual Kader Asmal Moot Court Competition!

The UWC Moot Court Society will be hosting the 11th Annual Kader Asmal Moot Court Competition on Saturday, 2 August 2025, at the University of the Western Cape.

This competition, established in honour of the late Professor Kader Asmal, recognises his significant contributions to human rights, constitutionalism, and the advancement of justice. It provides law students with an opportunity to engage rigorously with substantive legal issues, refine their advocacy skills, and develop critical legal reasoning in a simulated judicial setting.

The 2025 moot problem addresses complex themes within international humanitarian and environmental law, inviting participants to analyse and argue legal issues concerning the responsibilities of states under international treaties, particularly in contexts of armed conflict and environmental protection.

Since its inception, the Kader Asmal Moot Court Competition has attracted participation from various higher education institutions, fostering legal scholarship and professional development across the country. It remains a respected competition for aspiring legal practitioners to demonstrate their proficiency and prepare for the demands of legal practice.

The UWC Moot Court Society continues to host this annual competition as part of its mandate to promote excellence in legal education and advocacy.
