14th International Entrepreneurship Forum: Creating an Inclusive Agenda for Opportunity Development

The University of the Western Cape’s (UWC) School of Business and Finance invites you to take part in the 14th International Entrepreneurship Forum (IEF), to be held in at the Protea President Hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town, from 16 to 18 September 2015 - where researchers, policymakers and practitioners will be reshaping the agenda of entrepreneurship for human, social, cultural and economic development.

Led by the University of Essex Business School, and co-organised with UWC’s School of Business and Finance, Cape Peninsula University of Technology, the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Forum for Sustainable New Ventures, the IEF 14 main conference will explore a new form of socially inclusive entrepreneurship.

At a time when the world seeks to improve trajectories of sustainable development and provide better opportunities for all, we need new ideas, new products, new services and the formation of new organisational arrangements and business models. These are the matters that lie at the heart of entrepreneurship and innovation.

The conference theme, Creating an Inclusive Agenda for Opportunity Development, will encompass a variety of sub-themes. Papers will be presented and discussed on:

  1. entrepreneurship and society

  2. entrepreneurship, social cohesion and inclusiveness

  3. entrepreneurial universities, and an inclusive approach to entrepreneurship education, research and training

  4. commercialisation of new technologies and inclusive development

  5. institutional signals and arrangements for inclusive entrepreneurship

  6. Social innovation, social development and economic prosperity through entrepreneurship

  7. technology change, disruptive innovation and enterprise design

  8. community enterprise and inclusive development

  9. public policy and inclusive entrepreneurship

  10. entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation

  11. gender, inclusiveness and sustainable models of change

  12. crowd sourcing, crowd funding and the democratisation of entrepreneurship

Selected papers for the conference will be considered for publication in special issues of a variety of entrepreneurial journals such as the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economics and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Full papers will also be considered for two best paper prizes.

We hope you will join in this attempt to create a more inclusive agenda for entrepreneurship - and we look forward to sharing your dynamic and creative ideas and insights.

Submission Deadlines: All abstracts are to be submitted by 30 June 2015. Notification of acceptance will occur by 15 July 2015, and the deadline for submission of full papers is 7 September, 2015.
