The 2nd Annual Geo-Energy Resources Workshop 2026 convenes policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, students, and energy professionals to engage critically with Africa’s evolving oil, gas, and renewable energy landscape. It will be taking place from 7-9 October 2026 at the University of the Western Cape.

This workshop provides a strategic platform for dialogue on exploration success, energy transition, capacity development, and sustainable geo-energy growth across the continent.

 The Geo-Energy Resources Workshop is an annual high-level engagement hosted by the University of the Western Cape in collaboration with the AAPG Young Professionals Africa Region. 

The 2nd Annual edition focuses on:

• The South African Oil and Gas landscape
• Sub-Saharan energy potential
• Lessons from mature petroleum provinces
• Exploration and geoscience innovation
• Alternative and renewable energy integration
• Career pathways in the geo-energy sector
• The workshop combines keynote addresses, plenary sessions, technical presentations, policy dialogue, and structured networking.
