You are invited to submit a paper for possible inclusion in a Seminar on Addressing Gender-Based Violence and Femicide in South Africa

Theme: Addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Femicide in South Africa

Areas of interest include the following topics:
  • LGBTQI communities as victims of cyber-violence
  • SAPS implementation of GBV initiatives within a victims’ rights framework.
  • GBV at tertiary institutions
  • Safety of women on campuses 
  • Protecting vulnerable groups against GBV and femicide
  • Digital forms of violence against vulnerable groups
  • The Rights of citizens against GBV and femicide
  • Safety of women and vulnerable groups as a human right.
  • Role of culture and religion in GBV
  • Blesser/Blessee influence on GBV 
  • The extent and nature of GBV during COVID-19, 16 Days of Activism, Women’s Month
  • Technology Management Services (TMS) Effect of technology utilization to GBV speedy help response

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Kindly ensure that you adhere to the following while submitting your full paper. 
  • The paper must be an original contribution that has not been published before and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. 
  • The paper must demonstrate sound research principles and include complete and adequate referencing (in accordance with Harvard referencing style). 
  • The paper must be between 3000 and 4000 words in length (excluding title and author details) and well written - that is, clearly structured to facilitate readability and free of spelling and grammatical mistakes. Use single space, A4 size, text font type and size must be Times New Roman, 10pt, in single-spaced format. Follow three levels of headings, where applicable. 
  • The paper must not contain third-party copyright content. 
  • The name and affiliations of the author (or authors) must be included at the top of the paper between Title and Abstract. 
  • By submitting a paper, authors give consent for that paper and the authorship details to be featured in the Seminar programme. 
  • You will also have the option of submitting your presentations (only if the full paper is accepted/accepted with modification for presentation). Please note that you must follow the guidelines you receive when you send your presentation via email. (in .PPT or .PPTX formats).
  • Completed abstracts can be submitted to Lt Col Ryan via email: Ryanc@saps.gov.za on or before 16:00 on 8 June 2022.
