CHS Memorable Graduation after long period of restrictions amid Covid-19 pandemic!
Two years later after Covid-19 pandemic outbreak CHS graduates (both undergraduate and postgraduate) gathered at UWC sports grounds under a marque in the company of their loved ones, next of kin and fellow class mates and colleagues to commemorate and celebrate their graduation in their various disciplines.  The graduation was held in a marque in cognizant of Covid-19 restrictions and regulations and all Covid rules and regulations applied as promulgated in the continued nation of emergency as per Covid-19 command council and President, Cyril Ramaphosa of the republic.


It was indeed a moment of jubilations, celebration and recognition of sense of achievement as our students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) managed to finish their studies despite the challenges learning and teaching. In some instances, learning and teaching continued remotely, with limited physical contact as well engaging with fellow class mates and administration staff at the university.


“Working at the University of the Western Cape is a demanding job, even Prof Anthea Rhoda is here today working on her birthday” said Rector, Proffesor Tyrone Pretorius. He affirmed by wishing Prof Rhoda happy birthday on her special day as he closes the graduation ceremony.
The graduation was also special to CHS staff members, Lindy Sheryldene Van Der Berg, graduated her PhD in Nursing her thesis “Advisory Framework to inform the development of a micro-curriculum for a new Bachelor of Nursing programme offered at a University of the Western Cape”. Danelle Hess, from Department of Physiotherapy, also graduated her PhD with a thesis entitled “Development of design principles to guide the development of clinical reasoning in physiotherapy education”.  In addition, CHS graduated 14 Masters students from various disciplines.  Other graduates in other disciplines included undergraduates degrees in Sport Recreation and Exercise Science, Biokinetics, Psychology, Sport Development, Public Health, Child and Family Studies, Physiotherapy, Complimentary medicine in Naturopathy, Complimentary medicine in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Complimentary medicine in Unani Tibb Medicine, Nursing, Complimentary Health Sciences, Dietetics and Nutrition and Social work.
