Gender, Race, Class: Identity Politics

Eleni Varikas is Professor (Emeritus) of Political Theory and Gender Studies at the University Paris and researcher at the Centre de Recherches Sociologiques et Politiques de Paris Cresppa (CNRS). She has lectured in several universities in northern and southern hemisphere countries. Some of her research topics include gender and modern political theory, and hierarchical categorization. In her work Varikas reflects on the imperial and colonial under-current of Western history which is once again coming to the surface in the form inequality in opportunities. She critiques the triumphant come back of race as a legitimate grid of political understanding. Her work offers tools to engage with the intersection of gender, race, class, and identity politics.
