The Office for Leadership and Social Responsibility (LSR), located in the Centre for Student Support Services (CSSS), presents its annual Leadership Engagement Dialogues Talk for 2021. The LED Talks are a platform for critical engagement and debate for students and the UWC community. It provides an opportunity for us to ask critical questions about EVERYTHING.
Hosted during heritage month, we ask; what does it mean to be South African? Is there a shared idea of South African-ness? Questioning hegemonic and defending marginalized heritages; how do we understand this in the process of nation building?
This year, Dr Lwando Scott from the Centre for Humanities Research, delivers the keynote titled “Heritages-to-come: Monuments to the marginalised” to help us think through these challenging questions.
