The University of the Western Cape will be hosting its 6th Research and Innovation Week from 24-27 October 2022. The theme this year is: UWC’s Contribution to the SDG 2030 Agenda. The purpose of the Research Week is to celebrate, discuss, share and explore the diverse ideas and collaborations involved in research at UWC.
This is an opportunity to showcase the importance of research and how it is used in all facets of life. We realise that research and innovation are important for the development of society from different aspects, and that they need to be viewed through various lenses in order to find solutions to challenges facing our society.
Currently as we look towards 2030 we are also cognizant of the fact that there are many issues that impact the actual achievement of sustainable research and innovation goals. However, every small step counts, and understanding what we are doing and how we are contributing can help us build a sustainable future. Universities are vehicles where knowledge generation can be used to solve our societal problems, and research week gives us a peek into what is currently happening at UWC.
